When ripen, it is yellow, sweet, fleshy, rich ¡n carbohydrates, potassium, vítamin A and C. For its great content of starch, each banana in average contributes a person’s diet with 120 calories. For its high energy contribution and its high potassium content it is frequently consumed by people who practices sports and by physical culturists. The great variety of forms of the banana makes it an extremely versatile food. ln the West, the most common and simple way of consumption is to serve the whole fruit and use the skin to hold it.
